Description

Sardinia is famous for its typical desserts, like Fonni biscuits: similar to Savoiardi, they are sweet and light, and can be used to make an excellent tiramisù.

Tiramisù with Fonni biscuits is a delicious dessert, ideal served after a meal with guests, or just to treat yourself whenever you feel a craving for some sweetness.

Making it is very simple: apart from the biscuits, all the other ingredients and the procedure are the same as tiramisù. Here’s how to bring a delicious tiramisù with Fonni biscuits to your table.

  • Arborea Mascarpone 250 g
  • Egg yolks 3
  • Egg whites 3
  • Sugar 165 g
  • Coffee q.b.
  • Dark cocoa powder q.b.

Instructions

  • 1 Exactly as you would for a classic tiramisù, start by making coffee and pouring it into a dish so that it can cool (you will need at least 8 full cups). Remember to sweeten it with around 3 spoonfuls of sugar.
  • 2 After making the coffee and having left it to cool down, prepare the mascarpone cream. Put the egg yolks with 250 g of sugar in a bowl and mix them with an electric whisk until you obtain a fluffy, whitish mixture. As you continue to whisk, gradually add the mascarpone until the mixture solidifies. In another bowl whisk the egg whites with the electric whisk. When they start becoming fluffy add the remaining 80g of sugar. Whisk until you get a glossy, rigid meringue. Gently combine the mixture with the mascarpone.
  • 3 Take a rectangular baking dish of sufficient size. Dip the Fonni biscuits in the coffee, being careful not to soak them too much, and make a first layer on the bottom of the baking dish. Pour some mascarpone cream onto the biscuits and spread it with a spoon, then make add another layer of biscuits.
  • 4 Continue with this procedure until you have used all the ingredients, finishing with a layer of cream. Sprinkle the tiramisu with dark cocoa powder and put it in the fridge to cool for at least 3 hours before serving.
