Dairy Chain – Più valore alla filiera integrata, più rispetto per la terra
The project involved cattle, sheep, and goat farms within our cooperative, with a clear commitment: to improve milk quality, reduce environmental impact, and increase the managerial efficiency of farms.
Main activities
The Dairy Chain has adopted an integrated approach to sustainability, working across three key areas:
- Nutritional quality
In-depth analyses of the nutritional value of products throughout the entire supply chain, aimed at improving the wholesomeness and transparency of the final products. - Management quality
Introduction of advanced management tools, including G_HACCP, a standard protocol for farm management inspired by LEAN management principles, designed to reduce waste and optimize business processes. - Environmental quality
Assessment of the impact of livestock activities, focusing on animal welfare and the conscious use of natural resources, in line with our model of responsible livestock farming.
The results
The project concluded in April 2025 with the public dissemination of its results and the validation of the good practices that emerged.
All the content and methodologies are designed to be adopted by other livestock enterprises, fostering widespread and shared sustainable growth.
Dairy Chain represents a key milestone in Arborea’s strategy for a more conscious, transparent, and collaborative dairy supply chain — where every actor, from field to barn, works together to build an agricultural model capable of nourishing the future with respect and intelligence.

FAQs
Why is a project like Dairy Chain important for Arborea?
Because we believe that milk quality cannot be achieved alone. Dairy Chain was created to strengthen teamwork between farmers, technicians, and researchers, focusing on innovation, transparency, and shared sustainability. A strong supply chain is born from strong relationships.
What does the G_HACCP protocol consist of?
It is a management tool designed for stables, based on the principles of LEAN management. It helps reduce waste, optimize processes, and improve company organization, always with a concrete focus on animal welfare and the quality of farmers’ work.
What does "nutritional quality" mean in the supply chain?
This means thoroughly analyzing the nutritional value of the milk produced, to ensure transparency, safety, and real benefits for those who consume it. With Dairy Chain we have studied how to improve the animals’ diet to obtain increasingly healthier and more balanced milk.
Does Dairy Chain also have an impact on the environment?
Absolutely yes. One of the project’s main objectives was to assess the environmental impact of livestock farming, promoting best practices that reduce emissions, optimize resource use, and improve animal welfare.
What happens now that the project is finished?
Dairy Chain doesn’t stop with the end of the project. The results achieved, best practices, and tools developed will be shared across the entire cooperative in the coming months and made available to other livestock producers, helping us build a more sustainable agricultural future together.
