It is known for its <strong>pure white color <\/strong>and <strong>creamy, snow-like texture.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>In the past, Sardinian housewives would prepare it using a <strong>metal container<\/strong>\u2014originally made of lead, later of <strong>aluminum or steel<\/strong>\u2014called sa carapignera. This was placed inside a <strong>wooden barrel<\/strong>, the barrile, filled with <strong>blocks of ice sprinkled with salt<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>The distinctive feature of this preparation lies in the fact that <strong>the ice is not added to the lemon mixture itself<\/strong>, but is used <strong>only to chill it<\/strong>, creating its signature creamy consistency.
